FAQ

What do you mainly shoot?

My top choice is always natural light and outdoors. Personally, evening light and open shade are my first choice, and I love a good figgy day. If I lived in a warmer climate I would even do newborn outdoors because it's my absolute favorite source of light!

I love shooting babies and children best but there is a special place in my heart for family sessions. Time goes so fast and capturing those crazy days chasing a toddler where literally nothing is calm, then to young adult with the fakes smiles, and teenager when they actually listen because they just want to look good, haha! There is something special about every phase. The important part is knowing the phase you are in is temporary and fleeting.

The most "tiresome" sessions, will for sure be our favorite memories as the years go by. One thing I have learned well over the years is you will never regret taking the time for a session and having every memory you can as you get older and watch your family grow.

What's the time of day to shoot?

Golden hour is always our top choice! That's about one hour before sunset on any given day. If you like the glowy warm sunlight, that's the time you want. But as we all know, Illinois weather is unpredictable, so even planned perfectly, we may not have sunshine. Cloudy & foggy, days can be equally as gorgeous! Early morning light can be just as gorgeous, but messy with the dew, which can be troublesome with kids all dressed up.

Mainly you really want to avoid when the sun as at the highest point of the day, unless you have a location with a lot of open shade, and that can be hard to find.

If you are wanting a more urban session, we have a lot more wiggle room for time because buildings can provide great open shade and more pretty ways to use that midday sunlight.

Can Classic session be longer than 1 hour?

Absolutely! If you need more than one hour, it's simply $100 more per hour.

Can I extend the session on the day of?

Typically yes! Scheduling can be tricky during some seasons, so if you think you may possibly need more time, please let us know when booking so the schedule allows. We'd hate to have to leave your session because of having to rush to our next client.

Do I have to order prints through you?

No, there is no print requirement through us, but you certainly can order directly in your gallery. Whatever is easiest and makes the most sense for you.

How far in advance do we need to book?

The more time the better! Occasionally we can book "last minute" but it's completely random as too when. At least a month is recommended.

Can I have more Newborn session info?

Sure! Newborn sessions are typical shot before 2 weeks old. When booking, we base it on your due date! Life happens and dates change so just staying in contact is the best thing to do. Once the baby is here, let us know and we will find a time as soon as possible for you.

Sessions can be lengthy because really the baby is in charge of the day. There is a LOT of waiting and patience involved. If you have young siblings you'd like included, it's usually best to have them be at a portion of the session they are in and then can leave with daddy, mommy, grandparent, sitter - whatever works best for your family. It can be very long and overwhelming for them, and they are still adjusting to all the changes with the baby. If they can have some special time with someone who loves them it's a huge blessing on both sides of it and everyone is able to relax for a couple hours.

As far as what to bring, always extra feedings, extra diapers, wipes, blankets. You are always welcomed to bring special outfits, headbands, diaper covers, hats, blankets, props - anything that's special to our family. ...If you are completely stressed out, you just show up with the baby and extra feedings and we will be 100% good! We have more than enough on-sight to cover it and have a gorgeous session!

Do you travel and shoot out of state/area?

Yes we do!

Do you do headshots?

Yes we do, starting at $75.

Do you shoot weddings?

I shoot as a second shooter for my husband, Joe Molleck Photography, www.joemolleck.com

What kind of gear do you use?

Currently Canon Mark series cameras, 85mm, 24-70, 50mm, 100mm are the go-to! Primes lenses are always the personal favorite, but really just whatever we choose when seeing the light for the shoot.
